Tuesday is National Wear Red Day, part of
The Heart Truth campaign of the
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to raise awareness of heart disease in women. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in American Women.
Update: One commenter points out that the day is part of the American Heart Association's
Go Red for Women campaign. It's a bit confusing, as the NHLBI lists AHA as a partner in its materials, but National Wear Red Day does seem to have started with the AHA. Both organizations are promoting and celebrating the event. However, the American Heart Association features
an online shop with some proceeds donated to the cause.
