The company has been criticized for its efforts to push state legislation that would make the HPV vaccine mandatory for schoolgirls. According to the piece, "The company said it made the decision after realizing that its lobbying campaign had fueled objections across the country that could undermine adoption of the vaccine." The company declined to provide information on how much money it has already spent lobbying for mandatory HPV vaccination.
